Drew’s Eatery - Chicago, IL - carrier of Temptation and Teese
Today my little one came home and announced she passed her 7th grade US Constitution exam with a nice big fat A so we felt a celebratory dinner was in order. We chose to go to Drew’s Eatery which I’m happy to say they now carry both Teese and Temptation!
I failed to take pictures of our vegan sausages as I was mad hungry and we just dug right in. Had a vegan kielbasa with hot peppers, dill mustard (they had like 90 different types of mustards) and raw onions. Young girl had hers with Cheddar Teese Vegan Cheese, relish and ketchup.
Afterwards we had cones of our world famous Temptation Vegan Ice Cream to get amped on the pending Summer. They had our Orange Dreamcicle and Fair Trade Chocolate vegan ice cream. Tucked in the back they had a bit of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. I got the latter, young girl got chocolate and my wife got the Dreamcicle to round it all out. Great night and I’m still a bit happily stuffed.
Drew’s Eatery is an awesome place and I’m really excited it exists. Owner Andrew did a really great job with it and attempts to be as organic, local and green wherever possible. It’s not entirely vegan but he has options for everyone. If you’re up in his area and looking for a reasonably priced quick bit to eat this make a great option.
Randomly stumbled apon this. I think it’s a sign. I’m following. Add these good foods to lists of things to do in Chicago. All that touring will need to be fueled by goodness!

Cornmeal crust pizza with Teese Mozzarella Cheese and Uptons Naturals seitan sausage, spinach and peperoncini.
Tried something slightly different tonight. Instead of shredding the Teese I put it on in slices. Just looking for a visual change really. Nice quality dinner tonight.
Capped it off with half a chocolate cookie from Chicago Diner while watching Glee. Dorky night!
Kale Chips (recipe)
via 28 Cooks:
Kale Chips
3 or 4 large kale leaves, with stem removed and cut into 2” pieces
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 tbsp Smart Balance oil or Extra-Virgin Olive Oil
A few pinches of kosher salt
Preheat oven to 350 and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Whisk together vinegar, oil, and salt, and toss with kale leaves. Place in a single layer on cookie sheet and place into oven. Bake 10-15 minutes, flipping halfway through until crispy. Do not overcook or allow them to become completely brown as they will taste bitter. Enjoy!
These are totally yummy! I haven’t had this exact recipe but I’ve had Kale Chips before and they’re one of my favorite snacks. I’m all over this recipe.
A new Whole Foods just opened up in Chicago (on Kingsbury) replacing a store in the city. It’s massive. I guess one of the biggest ever. Pretty insane business really. I think it may put the flagship store in Austin to shame. Right now I may be a bit in love with it as it’s a shiny new overwhelming toy.
This also happens to be the first ever Whole Foods to carry Teese! I can’t wait to make more announcements about other Whole Foods carrying Teese but for now this will have to do. They carry all four flavors (Cheddar, Mozzarella, Creamy Cheddar and Nacho). Their pizza counter also carries Teese so you can order a fresh pie to go! Actually all Whole Foods locations in the Midwest that have a pizza counter carries Teese.
This Whole Foods location has tons of great new vegan options. I’m really amped on it!
Vegan s’mores pie. This was crazy good and the highlight of a weekend that was filled with crazy good food.
This is a re-post from my personal Tumblr acct. A few weeks ago my wife got super crazy on a bag of Dandies and some homemade graham crackers. I think this might’ve been partially inspired by an awesome post that Vegan Yum Yum recently did with Dandies.
This pie was killer. The Dandies roasted perfectly under the broiler and the chocolate part was very much like a truffle. It was super rich and a perfect cap to a fantastic weekend of food.
Last weekend she made mini versions of these for a food party we were at. I have some pictures and videos of these somewhere that I’ll try to post.
My Dandies Air Puffed Marshmallows arrived today! I received a package because I pimped the product release on my blog. They kick ass. Vegan. Kosher. Delish.
